Hello Authors and thank you to everyone that entered the contest. We had nearly 100 submissions. It was a tough decision. The top three winning books could have all easily been chosen as first place winners.
Our honorable mentions and noteworthy books, while not making the top three, are still great reads penned by talented writers. We encourage you to learn more about each book and support the authors by purchasing their products or commenting about their work at their websites or sales pages.
Hello self-published fiction writers. First of all, thank you for making the First Annual California Fiction Writers Book Contest a success. Keep writing and we hope you will enter your new novels in 2012 when we launch our next competition.
We have made our final selections for the winners of this year’s contest. See winner’s list and learn more about the authors and their books.
Prizes, press releases and all media coverage will be distributed no later than January 2012. An interview e-mail will be sent this week to all winners.
We will continue to post updates here on the website. In addition, we will be addding new 2012 contest information for self-published fiction writers and any new book marketing information we receive from experts in the field.

All Self-Published Authors Welcomed

CALIFORNIA – In an effort to promote the work of California novelists, LuckyCinda Publishing is proudly sponsoring a book contest for self-published and independently published fiction. All entrants of the First Annual California Fiction Writers Book Challenge will receive an autographed award-winning novel, free book marketing tips, and substantial discounts for consultations with big-name authors and expert book promoters.
In addition, every author will be entered into a separate drawing. The prize: Their book will be featured in a story as well as a FREE 1/4 page advertisement in the High Desert publication, The Inland Adventurer. This feature article will also be posted online at CNN and LuckyCinda blog sites, as well as on other Social Media.
LuckyCinda Publishing will consider self-published and independently published fiction released on or after Jan. 1, 2010.
Entries must be in English and must be self-published or issued by an independent publishing company. The authors must be California residents. Be sure to use a California address. Proof of residency may be required.
Note: Authors using Print on Demand (POD) firms like Lightning Source or CreateSpace are also eligible for the competition.
GRAND PRIZE for the 2012 BOOK OF THE YEAR: A one-hour FREE consultation with one of the nation’s most respected book marketing experts, Brian Jud, who has self-published five best-selling books on career transition that are distributed internationally.
The grand prize winner will also receive a FREE Kindle or Nook Reader.
In addition to the grand prize winner, the judges will choose first, second and third place selections and may also choose honorable mentions.
ALL WINNERS will receive a combination of books, free writing workshops and/or book marketing consultations offered by some of the industry’s most respected authors, publishers and book marketers including John Kremer, Patricia Fry, Joan Stewart and Dan Poynter. FREE certificates will be made available to all winners.
With the exception of an initial announcement, most of the publicity for winners will start January 2012. Once a winners’ list is officially released, updates will be posted throughout December 2011, so check the site often for the latest announcements.
JUDGING:
A panel of journalists, authors and book marketing experts will judge the submitted work. In addition, two avid book readers will be part of our judging panel.

Judging criteria:
Grand Prize Winner: We are looking for exceptional writing, especially the author’s ability to hold the reader’s interest as well as his/her ability to tell a story. The grand prize winning book will be an outstanding work with characters and a story that makes it shine above the rest. The overall presentation must be polished and professional.
First through Third Place: General excellence and the author’s story-telling technique will be considered. The writer must hold the reader’s interest and demonstrate the ability to develop plot and characters that connect with the reader.
The judging panel will choose three novels that illustrate overall excellence. Honorable mentions will be chosen from a variety of categories to include general fiction, romance, adventure, historic, and mystery. All judges decisions are final.

Notification: We will notify you when we receive your submission package. Winners will be notified by December 1, 2011. A complete list of winners will be posted online and a press release will be circulated on the Internet in December 2011.
